We are also «bridge builders»

The initiative «Building Bridges» aims to encourage dialogue and successfully tackle and overcome the challenges of this world together. Zürcher Kantonalbank is now also part of this initiative.

Establishing sustainable finance - that's the goal of the «Building Bridges» initiative. Zürcher Kantonalbank is now part of it. (Source: Building Bridges)

Building Bridges was founded in 2019 as a joint initiative by Swiss authorities, the financial world, the United Nations and other international partners in Geneva. Its objective is to accelerate the transition to a global economic model in line with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

At the heart of the initiative is the recognition that, for example, combating the effects of climate change (SDG 13) can only succeed with the involvement of all relevant stakeholders from the areas of finance, government and international development. This in turn requires the joint establishment of information and communication bridges to precisely these relevant stakeholders. This is the backdrop behind a multi-day conference that takes place in Geneva once a year.

Zürcher Kantonalbank is also involved

Zürcher Kantonalbank is now a «platinum» sponsor of the event, which will take place from 3 to 6 October 2022. We are also sending experts to speak on topics related to sustainable investment.

Dr René Nicolodi, Head Equities & Themes

A webinar on the topic of «Financing a Secure and Clean Energy System» will take place in the run-up to the event on 29 September (4 pm to 5 pm). Dr René Nicolodi, Head of Equities & Themes and Vice President of Swiss Sustainable Finance, is invited as a speaker. Click here to register.

Dr René Nicolodi will also introduce the panel «Is Finance Transitioning Quickly Enough to Meet Climate Imperatives?» on 3 October (4 pm to 5:30 pm). Participation is possible via live stream.

Ruben Feldman, Deputy Head ESG Strategies and Development

Ruben Feldman, Deputy Head of ESG Strategy and Development in Asset Management at Zürcher Kantonalbank, will be present as a speaker on the following panels. Participation in each is possible via live stream.

4 October (4 pm to 5:30 pm), together with climate researcher Prof. Thomas Stocker, member of the Sustainability Advisory Board of Zürcher Kantonalbank: Climate Crisis: THE Economic Opportunity of the 21st Century
5 October (2 pm to 3:30 pm): Disclosing Climate: From International Sustainability Standards to the Swiss Climate Scores

The focus of «Building Bridges» fits very well with Zürcher Kantonalbank's sustainable investment philosophy. In asset management, half of the total assets under management of around CHF 211 billion (as at August 2022) are already invested in the «Responsible» or «Sustainable» product lines – and this trend is on the rise.
