Profit distribution

For more than 150 years, we have been making an important contribution to the public budget of our canton.

We support the canton and municipalities

As the legal entity, the parent company (Zürcher Kantonalbank excluding subsidiaries) is decisive for the appropriation of profits. Zürcher Kantonalbank (parent company) generated an annual profit of CHF 1'044 million in the current financial year. Together with the profit carried forward, a balance sheet profit of CHF 1'047 million is available for the appropriation of profits (previous year: CHF 934 million).

For the 2021 financial year, an ordinary dividend of CHF 491 million was paid (previous year CHF 431 million). The canton first uses these to cover the capital costs. Of the remaining amount, two thirds go to the canton (CHF 320 million) and one third to the political municipalities (CHF 160 million). Distribution to the municipalities is made in proportion to the population.

The remaining amount of CHF 552 million is allocated to reserves as retained earnings.
